House News

this is our first fixer-upper as married folks. We'll see if we're still married once it's finished. I'm a bit of a city girl and my husband is quite comfortable wielding a cordless skill saw. Wish us luck (we're definately going to need it...)!

Where are we?

It's been a few years since we posted. Case and point:

We have a kid now. That took up a lot of our time:) Happily, of course. Now we're back to business?

Below is a little backyard before and after...

Happy Easter!

This is what Oscar and Emma do all day....

And lastly, you'll find the lovely pictures of our new kitchen...We're thinking of painting the wall with the window a lovely green color. Cast your vote...it's a little too muddled without more color!

Kitchen

While I was busy sleeping with a cold (this has been my year for sickness, I think), Nate finished the kitchen.

The new Artic

I'd usually stop posting pictures of weather because snow just looks like snow, but it's getting crazy! And, YES, that is one of the old cabinets that's sitting on our back porch...next to a toilet for the next big project...our master bathroom. I'm sure our neighbors will be happy this spring when we build a fence. Until then, here are some of the before and after pictures of our kitchen.

I'll take another one once we have the tile in!

Here's what the pantry used to look like...

The winter storm that we got delivered about 6 inches of snow to our neighborhood and created a snow day from work.

Here is the pantry space...you might remember pictures of it from a LONG time ago...

This is the door and the skeleton key that used to lead to the "Silence of the Lambs" basement. Now? Not so horrible. This door is only 6 ft tall.

Here are the new cabinets for our pantry.
This is what the kitchen used to look like. The strange little room past that big post (which is actually an oil fireplace chimney) is where the dining room used to be.

I had the flu the day nate knocked this chimney out. He was pounding it with a sledge hammer and I slept through it! I guess we're used to the sounds of the re-model now...

Here's what it looks like with the chimney gone.

Winter Weather

Thanksgiving was awesome...and a reprieve after we worked from 6 am to Midnight for days on end. Here are some of the best pictures to see what we've been up to. More than just the hallway will be posted shortly...

The last picture here is what happened when nate exploded the not-so-tempered glass on our fireplace. Don't worry...it only burned holes in our ex-carpet:)

10 Busy days

I have a long story that ends in a case of "bad things happening in 3s"
1. Our basement started to get a little wet in the Great NW Flood from the last 10 days.
2. We don't have gutters up, so in our attempt to purchase and hang them, I ended up with stitches in my hand.
3. A tree fell on our house.

I don't have pictures of the stitches, but here's what you can see:
Before

After...

And if you're curious at all about what we've been doing inside...
